The anchorage points in all cars have only been tested and approved for a child up to 18kg. 🙂 So ISOfix is only tested to hold 18 kg limit of a child in rear facing mode.
In the new iSize this has been improved. The total combined weight limit for the child and the seat is 33 kg.
The car’s seat belt is tested to hold a heavy adult, so they can take more weight. 🙂

The Izi Plus is an excellent seat, we are truly happy with it. 😀
It has a very very good recline, a lot better then the izi Combi/kid. So it’s far more comfy for smaller ones. If you look at the top image on this post, you see both my son and my daughter in BeSafe, he’s in the Plus, and the red one she is in, is the izi Combi. Now both of them are on full recline, but as you can see, he’s izi Plus has a far better recline. 🙂
BeSafe are compact seats and to me they just have a safer feel then a lot of other seats.
Doesn’t hurt that the colour choices are many either ofc hehe. :p So for me it was a win win situation! 🙂
In regards to taking the children in and out, both me and my husband don’t have any problems. Our daughter can get in and out on her own, being all most 3 years old.
The Plus is slightly lower down then the Combi/Kid which I found to be perfect as well, it’s not so far down that you feel your bending over, like with an infant carrier, but it’s not so high that you feel like your reaching for the stars if your a short person. 🙂
My husband is 196CM so he’s quite tall, and has as mentioned, no problems getting them in and out of the car. 🙂
All in all I think it has the best of both worlds so to speak.
From a safety perspective, BeSafe is very proud of the fact that they use both tethers, footprop and the anti-rebound bar in the front of the seat that connects with the back of the seat. 🙂

hi! you’re site has been very informative and useful for me especially i am planning to buy a new rearfacing carseat. my 9month old son uses Be Safe Izi Sleep carseat but it’s quite tight already on him. So I’ve been searching reviews and been deciding whether to buy combi or plus. But i think I like Plus more because of the weight limit which can allow me to use it for until 4-5 yrs. And also I am only 5 foot tall.
The only thing that I didn’t see on your review is about the “fabric” of the izi plus. i haven’t seen the actual. I am concern about how hot it can be and if it can cause my son to perspire much during long drives like 2 hrs seating on the carseat. Is the fabric breathable or are the fabric material prevents kids from over heating? During summer here (abu dhabi) outside temp is 50 celsius though we have AC in the car ( Ford Explorer 2014) but i am still concern with my kids perspiring esp on his back and head part.
After having long drive on that Izi Plus, did your kids perspire? thanks! and btw, will izi plus fit Ford Explorer? thanks you!
I would go for the izi Plus as well as baby is quite young and it has such a nice recline. 🙂
As for summer, you are able to buy summer covers for both the baby’s izi slee and the kid/combi/plus, they have the same shell, so it’s the same cover for those three. The cover comes in cream or in white. 🙂 This really helps with heat. As for my own experience, I find that the seats do breath a lot, and with having AC in the car, *really* helps as well. 🙂 But buying a summer cover I would def. do to make sure. 🙂
Ford Explorer is not on the fitting list, but that doesn’t mean it wont fit. The best thing you can do is take baby and the car to the nearest retailer and see if it fits. 🙂 What year is the Explorer? Explorer is quite a large car, and it fits in Ford Mondeo which is what we are driving at the moment, so I hope it does fit for you. 🙂

Choosing between the two really goes down to what fits your car the best and what age your child really is. 🙂
The TWE needs to rest on the front seat (or dash if in front seat with air bag off) as it has no foot prop.
In some vehicles this is the best solution as some have underfloor storage and do not allow leg extension into the box. (Citroen for example)
Personally I have had both seats and currently use the izi Plus. Of the two as the izi Plus has also been PLUS tested and has a load leg, I would choose the izi Plus, but hight wise, the TWE will last longer. 🙂 And the TWE also takes up less space.
The TWE fits most cars on the market, where as the Plus is quite big. Have you had a look at the vehicle fitting list to see if the izi Plus is on your cars fitting list?

Im thinking of getting the IZI plus for my 16month old. We have a Golf Plus 2008, which annoyingly isn’t on any of the lists, how do I find out if the seat will fit? (the 2009 model is listed) Also, if you tether to the seat in front, can you still adjust the position of that seat without re-adjusting the car seat?

The izi Plus is very comfy and has a very good recline. 🙂 My soon to be 4 year old son (who uses the seat in the photos) is still very happy and comfy in it. He still has one more hight on the headrest and the seat can be used until the shoulders no longer fit under the headrest. 🙂 My daughter fitted the seat until she was 116cm tall and just over 5 years old. 🙂
The BeSafe izi Combi does last slightly shorter hight wise yes, the top harness slot for the izi Plus is 38cm while the top harness slot for the izi combi is 36,5. My daughter outgrew it by hight when she was 4.

Because my son is high percentile for weight we had to go with a 25kg seat so I’m glad we went for the Plus. 🙂 From a safety perspective there is no difference between a belted erf seat and an isofix fitted one – as long as they are fitted correctly. If your child is likely to reach 18kg before 4 years old I would def. Advice to go for the Plus. 🙂

However, i still can’t decide on which seat to buy. Our son is 12 months, and we don’t have a car, so we need something that fits most cars (as there are a few small ones in the family, as well as old ones without isofix) and are not too heavy and big to carry, but still safer than most! 🙂 I’ve been looking at BeSafe Izi Plus, Britax TWE and newest addition to the list: Axkid Minikid. Am i missing something and what would you recommend in our situation?
